Vacations

We all make choices about where our money goes. We choose to spend it on seeing other places. Our cars are seldom newer than 8 to ten years old. Our day-to-day lifestyle is kept pretty simple, but given the opportunity to visit some near or far-off place, we've got our bags packed and we're gone.

I suppose it all started when we had the chance to live in Germany for a couple of years, courtesy of IBM (1973-5). While there our diary shows that we drove all over southern Germany, eastern France and Switzerland (all within 2-3 hours). I guess that interest in what is to be found elsewhere is not changed all that much.
