The story of our Glied ancestors continues in this chapter with the co-lateral line ancestor, (#4) Johan BerendtG2 Glied. He was born in 1732, which was the year that Frederick William I began compulsory military service in Prussia.1 The setting for this chapter takes place mainly in the parishes of Jöllenbeck, Schildesche, and Enger, now located in the modern day state of Nordrhein/Westfalen, Germany.
4. JOHAN BERENDTG2 GLIED, the third child of EberdtG1 and Anna Maria Ilsabein Glied nee Trebbe(n), was probably born at Barchholz's in Bauerschaft Jöllenbeck #2 located in the modern day state of Nordrhein/Westfalen, Germany. He was baptized on 14 Sep 1732 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck. His sponsor was Berendt Quelle.2 He was a Heürling.
On 18 Sep 1756, Johan Berendt Glied wed ANNE CATHARINE MARIA OLDEHOF. They were married at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck.3 Anne (1735-1798), the daughter of Johan Wilhelm and Anna Ilsabein Oldehof nee Oldenhöners, was baptized on 3 Jul 1735 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck. Her sponsors were Maria Oldehof and Margrethe Catarina Eickme’er.4
Anne became the mother of ten children. Anne Catharine Maria Glied nee Oldehof, age 62, died on 19 Apr 1798 at Bauerschaft Oberjöllenbeck #2 and was buried on 22 Apr 1798 in the kirchhof at Jöllenbeck.5 Johan Berendt Glied, age 73, died from Alterschwäche (debility of old age) on 11 Feb 1804 at Bauerschaft Oberjöllenbeck #2 and was buried on 14 Feb 1804 in the kirchhof at Jöllenbeck.6

JOHAN EBERDTG3 GLIED (1756-1825), the first child of the Heürling, Johan Berendt and Anne Catharine Glied nee Oldehof, was born "gehort dem könig" (belongs to king) at Meyer's in Bauerschaft Niederjöllenbeck #5, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 3 Oct 1756 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck, Westfalen Germany. His only sponsor was Eberdt Glied.7 On 16 Jul 1784, Johan Eberdt Glied, age 27, wed ANNE MARIE ILSABEIN MEERHOFF, age 22, at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck.8 Anne (1766-1831), the daughter of the Heürling, Caspar Henrich and Magdalena Meerhoff nee Heidmann, was born on 2 May 1766 at Niederjöllenbeck #7 and was baptized on 4 May 1766 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck.9 After their marriage, Johan and Anne lived at Bauerschaft Oberjöllenbeck #1. Even though Johan was born belonging to the king, by 1793 he was a free Heürling and Spinner. Johan Eberdt Glied, age 69, died on 6 Feb 1825 at Lenzinghausen bei #11, Westfalen, Germany and was buried on 9 Feb 1825 in Kirchspiel Spenge, Westfalen, Germany.10 Anne Marie Ilsabein Glied nee Meerhoff, age 68, died on 1 Feb 1831 at Lenzinghausen #27 and was buried on 4 Feb 1831 in the kirchhof at Spenge.11 The children of Johan Eberdt and Anne Glied nee Meerhoff: 915. JOHAN BERNDG4 GLIED (1785-1855), the first child of the free Heürling, Johan Eberdt and Anne Glied nee Meerhoff, was born on 20 Oct 1785 at Bauerschaft Oberjöllenbeck #1, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 23 Oct 1785 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck. His sponsors were Johan Bernd Glied and Johan Henrich Holtgraeve.12 On 23 May 1808, Johan Bernd Glied, age 22, wed his first wife, MARGRETHA ILSABEIN SCHÄFFER, age 25, at the Evangelisch Church in Enger, Westfalen, Germany.13 Margretha (1783-1833), the daughter of Heinrich Jacob and Margrethe Ilsabein Schäffer nee Dieckmann, was born on 19 Feb 1783 in Westerenger, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 23 Feb 1783 at the Evangelisch Church in Enger.14 Following their marriage, Johan and Margretha lived at Westerenger by Vornern. Johan was a Heürling. Both Johan and Margretha were Spinners. Margretha Ilsabein Glied nee Schäffer, age 50, died on 10 Dec 1833 at Westerenger bei #1 and was buried on 13 Dec 1833 in the kirchhof at Enger.15 Johan Bernd and his first wife, Margretha Glied nee Schäffer had the following children: 916. CASPAR HEINRICHG5 GLIED (1809- ), the first child of the Heürling and Spinner, Johan Bernd and Margretha Glied nee Schäffer, was born on 6 Sep 1809 at Lenzinghausen, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 12 Sep 1809 at the Evangelisch Church in Spenge, Westfalen, Germany.16 On 4 May 1838, Caspar Heinrich Glied, age 28, wed CATHRINE MARIE OLHEIDE, age 24 at the Evangelisch Church in Enger, Westfalen, Germany.17 Cathrine (1813- ), the daughter of the Erbpächter, Johann Heinrich and Christine Marie Olheide nee Steinkühler, was born on 11 Apr 1813 at Westerenger bei #4, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 16 Apr 1813 at the Evangelisch Church in Enger.18 After their marriage, they lived at Westerenger bei Erbpächter, Heckenberg #4. ANNE MARIE SOPHIEG6 GLIED (1838-1841), the first child of the Heürling, Caspar and Cathrine Glied nee Olheide, was born on 9 May 1838 at Westerenger bei #4, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 13 May 1838 at the Evangelisch Church in Enger, Westfalen, Germany.19 She was born five days after her parents married. Anne, age 2, died on 7 Mar 1841 at Westerenger bei #38 and was buried on 10 Mar 1841 in the kirchhof at Enger.20

ANNE MARGRETHE ILSABEING6 GLIED (1841-1850), the second child of the Heürling, Caspar and Cathrine Glied nee Olheide, was born on 26 Jan 1841 at Westerenger bei #38, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 31 Jan 1841 at the Evangelisch Church in Enger, Westfalen, Germany.21 Anne, age 9, died from Brustfieber (pneumonia) on 13 Oct 1850 at Westerenger bei #4 and was buried on 16 Oct 1850 in the kirchhof at Enger.22

CASPAR HEINRICHG6 GLIED (1845-1848), the third child of the Heürling, Caspar and Cathrine Glied nee Olheide, was born on 26 Sep 1845 at Westerenger bei #38, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 5 Oct 1845 at the Evangelisch Church in Enger, Westfalen, Germany.23 Caspar, age 3, died from Wassersucht (dropsy) on 22 Oct 1848 at Westerenger bei #46 and was buried on 25 Oct 1848 in the kirchhof at Enger.24

ANNE MARGRETHE ILSABEING6 GLIED (1849- ), the fourth and last child of the Heürling, Caspar and Cathrine Glied nee Olheide, was born on 28 Mar 1849 at Westerenger bei #4, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 6 Apr 1849 at the Evangelisch Church in Enger, Westfalen, Germany.25 On 9 Apr 1869, Anne Margrethe Ilsabein Glied, age 20, wed FRIEDRICH WILHELM BOCKERMANN, age 22, at the Evangelisch Church in Enger.26 Friedrich (1846- ), the son of the Heürling, Caspar Wilhelm and Anne Catharine Marie Bockermann nee Cassing, was born on 19 Oct 1846 at Herringhausen, Westfalen, Germany.27 After their marriage, they lived at Oberjöllenbeck bei #12, Westfalen, Germany.
921. ii. CASPAR HEINRICHG5 GLIED (1812- ), the second and last child of the Spinner, Johan Bernd and Margretha Glied nee Schäffer, was born on 28 Feb 1812 at Bryhse and was baptized at the Evangelisch Church in Spenge, Westfalen, Germany.28
On 20 Apr 1834, the widower, (#915) Johan Bernd Glied, age 49, wed his second wife, MARIE SOPHIE ARENSBÄUMER, age 29, at the Evangelisch Church in Enger.29 Marie (1805-1863), the daughter of Johann Henrich and Anne Marie Ilsabein Arensbäumer nee Hönens, was born on 23 Oct 1805 at Enger bei #25 and was baptized on 27 Oct 1805 at the Evangelisch Church in Enger.30 Johan was a Heürling and Spinner. Marie was a Spinner. Johan Bernd Glied, age 69, died from Brustkrankheit (pneumonia) on 21 Feb 1855 at Westerenger bei #1 and was buried on 25 Feb 1855 in the kirchhof at Enger.31 Marie Sophie Glied nee Arensbäumer, age 57, died on 1 Mar 1863 at Westerenger bei #1 and was buried on 4 Mar 1863 in the kirchhof at Enger.32 Johan Bernd and his second wife, Marie Glied nee Arensbäumer had the following child. 922. ANNE CATHARINE ILSABEING4 GLIED (1788-1830), the second child of the free Heürling, Johan Eberdt and Anne Glied nee Meerhoff, was born on 19 Mar 1788 at Oberjöllenbeck #2, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 24 Mar 1788 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck, Westfalen, Germany.34 Anne was confirmed on 25 Apr 1802 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck.35 On 16 Jul 1811, Anne Catharine Ilsabein Glied, age 23, wed CASPAR HENRICH SAHRMANN, age 30, at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck.36 Caspar (1780-1832), the son of the Heürling, Johan Hermann and Clara Ilsabein Sahrmann nee Wöhrmann, was born on 28 Aug 1780 at Eicum, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 3 Sep 1780 at the Evangelisch Münstergemeinde Church in Herford, Westfalen, Germany.37 Both Caspar and Anne were Spinners. Anne Catharine Ilsabein Sahrmann nee Glied, age 42, died from Kindbette (childbirth) on 6 Jun 1830 at Niederjöllenbeck bei #5, Westfalen, Germany and was buried on 8 Jun 1830 in the kirchhof at Jöllenbeck.38 Caspar Sahrmann, age 56, died on 4 Jul 1832 at Niederjöllenbeck bei #5 and was buried on 7 Jul 1832 in the kirchhof at Jöllenbeck. HANNE MARIEG5 SAHRMANN (1817-1895), the third child of Caspar and Anne Sahrmann nee Glied, was born on 10 Jan 1817 at Niederjöllenbeck bei #28, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 19 Jan 1817 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck, Westfalen, Germany. Her only sponsor was Catharine Marie Glied from Spenge.45 On 6 Oct 1843, Hanne Marie Sahrmann, age 26, wed the widower and Heürling, HERMANN HEINRICH SCHRAMM, age 30, at the Evangelisch Church in Enger, Westfalen, Germany.46 Hermann (1814-1865), the illegitimate son of Johann Heinrich Schramm and Anne Margrethe Ilsabein Bekeme’er, was *born on 22 Sep 1814 at Westerenger bei #13, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 25 Sep 1814 at the Evangelisch Church in Enger.47 They lived at Westerenger bei #13 after their marriage. Hermann was a Heürling. JOBST HEINRICHG6 SCHRAMM (1853- ), the fifth child of the Heürling, Hermann and Hanne Schramm nee Sahrmann, was born on 17 Sep 1853 at Westerenger bei #13, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 18 Sep 1853 at the Evangelisch Church in Enger, Westfalen, Germany.57 On 12 Apr 1878, Jobst Heinrich Schramm, age 24, wed HANNE FRIEDRIKE GIESSELMANN, age 36, at the Evangelisch Münstergemeinde Church in Herford, Westfalen, Germany.58 Hanne (1841- ), the daughter of the Heürling, Hermann Heinrich and Anne Wilhelmine Giesselmann nee Spekelmann, was born on 25 Dec 1841 in Eicum, Westfalen, Germany.59 After their marriage, they lived at Eicum.
932. vi. ANNE AUGUSTE MARIEG6 SCHRAMM (1857- ), the sixth child of the Heürling, Hermann and Hanne Schramm nee Sahrmann, was born on 25 Jan 1857 at Westerenger bei #13, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 1 Feb 1857 at the Evangelisch Church in Enger, Westfalen, Germany.60
933. vii. ANNE MARGARETHE ILSABEING6 SCHRAMM (1860- ), the seventh and last child of the Heürling, Hermann and Hanne Schramm nee Sahrmann, was born on 26 Aug 1860 at Westerenger bei #13, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 2 Sep 1860 at the Evangelisch Church in Enger, Westfalen, Germany.61

MARIE FRIEDERIKEG5 SAHRMANN (1819-1848), the fourth child of Caspar and Anne Sahrmann nee Glied, was born on 25 Sep 1819 at Niederjöllenbeck bei #28, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 3 Oct 1819 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck, Westfalen, Germany.62 Marie, age 29, died on 5 Nov 1848 at Westerenger #20, Westfalen, Germany and was buried on 9 Nov 1848 in the kirchhof at Enger, Westfalen, Germany. She died from Kindbette (childbirth). At the time of her death, she was engaged to Caspar Heinrich Althoff and the marriage banns had been posted the required three times.63 She had a stillborn daughter.64
935. v. ANNE MARGRETHE ELISABETHG5 SAHRMANN (1821- ), the fifth child of the Spinner, Caspar and Anne Sahrmann nee Glied, was born on 25 Dec 1821 at Niederjöllenbeck bei #5, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 30 Dec 1821 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck, Westfalen, Germany.65 In May of 1853, Anne Margarethe Elisabeth Sahrmann, age 33, wed JOHANN CHRISTIAN HEINRICH GORGES, age 24, at Ho’el.66 Johann (1829- ), the son of the Colon, Johann Heinrich and Anne Margrethe Ilsabein Gorges nee Kaase, was born on 6 Oct 1829 at Ho’el.67

ANNE MARIEG5 SAHRMANN (1824-1824), the sixth child of the Spinner, Caspar and Anne Sahrmann nee Glied, was born on 15 Jan 1824 at Niederjöllenbeck bei #5, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 18 Jan 1824 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck, Westfalen, Germany.68 Anne died on 12 Feb 1824 at Niederjöllenbeck bei #5 and was buried on 15 Feb 1824 in the kirchhof at Jöllenbeck.69

PETER HENRICHG5 SAHRMANN (1825-1829), the seventh child of the Spinner, Caspar and Anne Sahrmann nee Glied, was born on 14 Jan 1825 at Niederjöllenbeck bei #5, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 23 Jan 1825 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck, Westfalen, Germany.70 Peter, age 4, died from Bräune (diphtheria) after eight days, on 2 Feb 1829 at Niederjöllenbeck bei #5 and was buried on 5 Feb 1829 in the kirchhof at Jöllenbeck.71

ANNE MARIE ILSABEING5 SAHRMANN (1827- ), the eighth child of the Spinner, Caspar and Anne Sahrmann nee Glied, was born on 30 Aug 1827 at Niederjöllenbeck bei #5, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 2 Sep 1827 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck, Westfalen, Germany.72 Anne was confirmed on 3 Apr 1842 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck.73 On 17 Sep 1854, Anne Marie Ilsabein Sahrmann, age 27, wed the Weber, PETER HENRICH HEIDEMANN, age 31, at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck.74 Peter (1823- ), the son of the Heürling, Johann Heinrich Heidemann, was born on 29 Sep 1823 at Spenge, Westfalen, Germany.75
939. ix. SAHRMANN DAUGHTERG5 (1830-1830), the ninth and last child of the Spinner, Caspar and Anne Sahrmann nee Glied, was stillborn on 4 Jun 1830 at Niederjöllenbeck bei #5, Westfalen, Germany76 and was buried on 5 Jun 1830 in kirchhof at Jöllenbeck, Westfalen, Germany.77

ANNA CATHRINA MARIAG4 GLIED (1790- ), the third child of the free Heürling, Johan Eberdt and Anne Glied nee Meerhoff, was born on 30 Nov 1790 at Oberjöllenbeck #2, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 5 Dec 1790 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck, Westfalen, Germany.78 Anna was confirmed on 28 Apr 1805 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck.79 On 12 Dec 1817, Anna Cathrina Maria Glied, age 24, wed CASPAR HEINRICH GEHNER, age 26, at the Evangelisch Church in Spenge, Westfalen, Germany.80 Caspar (1791- ), the son of the free Heürling, Jobst Henrich and Maria Elisabeth Gehner nee Hauptmann, was born on 26 Apr 1791 at Niederjöllenbeck #31, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 1 May 1791 at the Evangelisch Church in Jöllenbeck.81 Caspar was a Heürling. ANNE MARGRETHE ELISABETHG5 GEHNER (1821-1821), the second child of the Heürling, Caspar and Anna Gehner nee Glied, was born on 3 Apr 1821 at Pödinghausen bei #11, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 8 Apr 1821 at the Evangelisch Church in Enger, Westfalen, Germany.84 Anne died on 1 Oct 1821 at Pödinghausen bei #11 and was buried on 4 Oct in the kirchhof at Enger.85

ANNE CATHARINE ILSABEING5 GEHNER (1823-1827), the third child of the Heürling, Caspar and Anna Gehner nee Glied, was born on 13 Feb 1823 at Pödinghausen, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 21 Feb 1823 at the Evangelisch Church in Enger, Westfalen, Germany.86 Anne, age 4, died from Scharlachfieber (scarlet fever) on 23 Aug 1827 at Pödinghausen bei #4 and was buried on 26 Aug 1827 in the kirchhof at Enger.87
